More Crabing Photos

This is what a crab pot looks like, at least one that individuals like us use. Actually, they belong to John because you have to have a license to crab and you can only get a license after being a resident for a year.

This is a shot of Katlin Bay. It was a gorgous day and we even has some sun.

Deadliest Catch

Ok, so I’ve been very slow at getting my blog updated lately but I have a couple of really good excuses.

First, I’ve gotten a new job. I am now the new Registrar for Sitka High School. I’m so excited and ready for the change of working with High schoolers as opposed to adults in the seminary. Actually, the more I think about it, there probably won’t be that much of a difference. (Just kidding all you seminary students.) (But not really). I’ll still put in some hours at the coffee shop. It’s too fun not to keep on there, plus everyone is so nice and I love the perks (pun intended).

And my second excuse is that we have purchased a boat. Not only does a boat drain your bank account it also drains your time, but in a good way. So here are some photos of our boat and our first crabbing trip. Our neighbor/landlord and friend, John, went with us to pull his 3 crab pots. We learned a lot and had a great time even though we only got 2 crabs. The crabs were female so we couldn’t keep them. I guess the term “Deadliest Catch” refers to starvation.

The other little guy in the photo is John’s son, Dominic. Dominic reminds Steve and I of Aaron. Their older son is a lot like Justin. They don’t have a “Ben” but Ben is so unique there is no duplicate.:)
